Essential By Dorint Basel City

The breakfast was tasty with cheese and delicious bread and diversity of food served and the atmosphere was quiet! The staff were super-friendly and exceptionally kind, provided terrific services. They helped us get a shuttle to the airport....  

The free ticket to move in the city was fantastic.

Receipt of a room upgrade (because of air conditioning!). Well functioning air conditioning in the suite. Spacious suite with kitchinette and (but empty) minibar. Safe in the room. Good public transport connections to the city center, Basel SBB and the Baden train...  

Went to Dorint Basel for the third time. Great hotel, great city. But for the first time we were not quite satisfied

We asked for a room out back when checking in. The receptionist nodded, but gave us a room facing the street. We complained immediately after inspecting the room. He justified the allocation with "all rooms to the rear". We noted ad hoc that he could at least have informed us. He conceded this, but was obviously too convenient to change rooms again. On Sunday morning, when asked, it turned out that the hotel was far from fully booked. This was not the case until the following night from Sunday to Monday because of a trade fair. Thus, the employee had verifiably lied to us, and this is not possible at all!

There was no air conditioning in the room.

Despite "not central" location hotel proved to be clean, with friendly staff, recent renovation and required facilities. As a small bonus we received daily pass for all transport (probably to compensate not central location)....  

The hotel offers a free card for public transportations during stay in the city to move freely in the city from or to the station and the airport.

This offer for the free card for public transportation was not properly informed to me although I came to the hotel from Basel station by bus. So I bought a ticket to come to the hotel. I was told to show the booking confirmation paper if I was claimed to show officer the ticket. The problem was the hotel did not send me the confirmation paper by e-mail.

Nice rooms at reasonable prices. The hotel is conveniently located in the city and has a bus stop at its door steps to connect to railway station. It would have been a great deal if breakfast were to be included in the price. The staff was very...  

The room was clean, but the bathroom smelled oddly despite being well-maintained.

The staff were efficient and friendly - specially the reception staff. They took much trouble in welcoming us and finding us information about some of the places we wished to visit. The room was large and clean. Parking was easy. 'Evita' playing...  

Although not in the centre, the hotel is not far from the tourist sites and the tram service (with a free pass issued by the hotel) is very good. The hotel istself was very clean and...

Inconsistent air conditioning could really use an upgrade!!! Noise insulation issues made for a less than peaceful night's sleep, and a little more attention to room cleanliness would definitely improve comfort!!!

The staff at the front desk spoke very good English-very helpful! Also, we had a medical situation that required ice - lots of it - and they were good to give us as much as we needed.

This was our first time in Europe, and we were unaware of the differences there. It is expensive and few free amenities, but I can't blame the hotel - just different expectations since we are used to US hotels. There was free internet and a few free English tv stations. No ice machines in the hall, etc, but it was obvious that people there had a different lifestyle, and this wasn't necessarily different for them.

Good quality hotel ,efficient rather than atmospheric. We know Basel well so it doesn't matter that it's a business location rather than tourist .A first time visitor miht be better to choose a more central location,but this isn't...
